Flat Layphotography
The overhead shot every PDP grid and Instagram feed needs. Upload your product, pick a surface, and generate styled flat lays in seconds — no shoot, no stylist.
Flat lay is the workhorse of e-commerce photography
A flat lay is an overhead shot where the product sits on a flat surface — linen, marble, wood, paper, sand — usually surrounded by a few considered props that tell the product's story. It's the single most versatile composition in e-commerce: it reads clearly at thumbnail size, it works in a 1:1 grid, it scales to Pinterest, and it gives a PDP a sense of world without distracting from the product itself. The hard part is the styling. Good flat lays look effortless but take a prop stylist, a photographer, a top-down rig, and an afternoon to get right. Change the season and you reshoot the whole thing. Snapsible generates flat lays directly from your product photos and brand DNA. Upload a clean photo of the product, pick a surface and prop palette (or paste a reference from Pinterest), and the AI composes the overhead shot with your exact product preserved — real label, real color, real finish. Swap the linen for marble, add coffee and a book, change the season from spring to fall, re-render in 4:5 for Meta ads, all without touching a camera. It's the fastest way to fill a content calendar with on-brand overhead shots.

What separates a good flat lay from a great one
Six things we see every time we look at a flat lay that actually converts. Use these as direction when you prompt a generation in Snapsible.
Commit to one surface
Don't mix linen and marble in the same frame. Pick one surface, let it do all the texture work, and keep props visually calmer than the ground. Inconsistent surfaces are the fastest way to make a flat lay look cluttered.
Use odd numbers of props
One, three, or five props reads as composed. Two or four feels accidental. The human eye groups odd numbers into natural triangles, which is exactly the shape you want the viewer's gaze to travel.
Keep the product the tallest or the brightest element
If you style a candle next to a larger vase, the eye goes to the vase. Scale your props smaller than the product, or make them visually quieter in color so the hero always wins the frame.
Leave real negative space
Flat lays breathe. Give the product at least 30 percent empty surface around it — that space is where logo, headline, or ad copy will go later, and it's what makes the composition feel expensive rather than busy.
Light from one direction only
Two light sources kill a flat lay. You want a single, soft, directional light — usually off to one side — so the product casts one clean shadow that grounds it on the surface.
Match props to the product's actual use
A coffee flat lay with coffee beans, a ceramic cup, and a linen napkin tells the real story. Props that have nothing to do with the product — random flowers, random books — read as Pinterest cosplay. Generate props the customer would actually own.
